Serafino Maglieri was born in
Sepino, in Italy’s province of
Campobasso.
In 1963, his Grandfather took him
to Naples and watched him board a
ship to Australia that would carry
him to join his father and his
destiny.
In 1967, Serafino and his father
bought fifty hectares of woodland
which became their first vineyard.
By 1972, after much hard work and
determination, Serafino had
established his own winery and
became one of Australia’s best
winemakers. He was accredited with
many accolades including the largest
seller of a red wine variety in
Australia.
Today the Maglieri family have
reappeared on the McLaren Vale
scene with new state of the art
boutique winery named Serafino
Wines and as the owner of McLarens
on the Lake complex, a four star
accommodation, restaurant and
conference centre.
The McLaren Vale wine region is
located in the heart of the Fleurieu
Peninsula, 40 km south of Adelaide.
It is considered one of the most
beautiful wine regions in the world
and has gained a reputation for
producing high quality wines with
distinctive characters and intense
flavours.
Serafino, Steve Maglieri is joined by Chief Winemaker, Scott
Rawlinson, in the
creation of award winning wines.
The fruit is sourced from the 300
acre family vineyard comprising of
varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot,Tempranillo, Chardonnay
and Sangiovese.
Steve and Scott have an intimate
interest in small batch, hand made
wines, with a personal and direct
involvement from the vineyard,
right through to your next glass.
